Why I Can't Stop The Music!

I can't pin point when the music stopped for me, I just know for the last 20 years I lost the music. I lost the magic of instruments and the glory of voices. I lost the magic of how music just made me feel just so happy(need a new word).

Fast forward..................

I found it - a week after activation. Of course it sounded terrible, just plain horrible. :( I was determined to find it again and make it better than before. So I took my husband's ipod video and set out to learn music again. It started with one song, "Little Jeanine" by Elton John. I pulled the lyrics up on the computer and sat and sang to the music. I listened to the this song, oh 30 to 60 times in one day. I kept it up until I understood the words and could pick up the piano. Oh how wonderful. Then slowly each day I added another song until my library is now 70. (thank you Minglewood for itune cards)

Now my latest obsession is the song "Everyone wants to rule the world" by Tears for Fears. I keep listening to it over and over and over and over again. I can't crack its code. I look at the lyrics, but somewhere in the middle I get lost. I also am overwhelmed by the fantastic instruments - the piano, the guitar, and the drums. Just something makes me listen around 70 times just yesterday. My husband who can hear the song through the ear buds, and I drove him completely crazy. Not a little, but the kind that he had ask me to leave the room so he could have some peace. Me - I just enjoyed another couple hours listening to the same song. I even had to listen one more time this morning walking to the office to go to my mailbox. And of course I made Vanessa and the kids listen to it again on the way home. So I need some new songs, please leave some suggestions. Please my husband begs you!

I like to read about how you use the music to learn to hear....
I also miss the music now. To me it lost it's magic sometime ago, not sure when, I have been stubborn you see....

But now I have given the music a rest until I get my CI's....

I find myself nervous about how music will sound for me. I'm passionate about it, and hope to hear well enough with the implant that my emotions swell just as readily as they did before. I also have some 80s favorites. But my all-time favorite musical group is Enigma. If you're not familiar with them, their first release, MCMXC AD, is probably their best, but I like all their releases. The tracks on their first release are enchanting and sensual. I especially like Back to the Rivers of Belief.

Here's several that I feel that has more vocals than instruments.

Hey Jude - Beatles
Every Rose Has Its Thorn - Poison
Imagine - John Lennon
Fallin' Out of Love - Reba McEntire
Fancy - Reba McEntire (very fast, but vocals are pretty good)
I Believe I can Fly - R. Kelly (Lots of bass, and I think it's very lovely)
Solitaire - Clay Aiken (Oh this song is awesome!)
Alone - Heart (I can follow some of the words, but not all. So this may be a "challenge" song)

I wish you BEST of luck...and I'm looking forward for MY activation!

Thanks all - I downloaded shout, imagine, and fancy. That will be my goal this week. I cracked the everyone rules the world code. Just can't stop listening to it.

My hearing loss was a downward sloping, so I lost a lot of frequencies. The best I can describe music is it had "holes" in it. I could not pick up high instruments. With CIs music sounds better no the best it can sound! There are no holes only harmony, pitch, beats, singing. I am very passioniate about music now. I can't go long without it. It is the most amazing sound.

All of you future CIs, music will come! It takes time, but worth it.

oh I am adding alone - love heart

Hello. 60-70 times a day! This is a number I hear from a song in a year! Obsessed, indeed to comprehend pseudo sounds. I do song interpreting in ASL and it helps me follow the lyrics and music. Can't do no wrong with the Beatles unless their vocals are too high frequency. Hey Jude is a good vocal track song. I posted a couple Beatles songs at side labels - Music at http://drmzz.blogspot.com/.

I'm excited about your music. You need to listen to Dave Matthews Band. If there are any other types of music / artists you want to listen to, let me know.
I read your other blogs, what a great way to share your thoughts. You've gone through a lot go get to where you are now and I'm very happy for you! You're a great teacher and friend :)
